Great Brunswick Street

Great Brunswick Street, now Pearse Street
Running alongside Trinity College, Padraig Pearse and his brother Willie were born at 27 Great Brunswick Street, which is named after them today.

Their father, James Pearse, established a stonemasonry business there in the 1850s.

The Volunteers had a headquarters at 206 Great Brunswick Street (later 2 Dawson Street) while during the Rising Eamon de Valera’s men also had a muster point in the area.
